5 Ways to Inspire Yourself to Travel More Often

Many people are scared of travelling - whether it’s the thought of being away from home for a long period of time or fears for safety, travelling can be a considerably scary commitment that not everyone can cope with. However, once you get a break and you've 'practiced' a few times, you’ll find that it can be the most eye-opening and liberating experience you’ve ever had, especially if you pick a place that is so far from what you normally know.

So we’ve put together a list of five different ways to inspire yourself to travel more often...because there really is a big beautiful world out there that you deserve to experience at least once!

1. Get on Youtube and Watch Travel Videos

YouTube is a great way to pass the time and get some entertainment, but did you know that there are plenty of travel vloggers on YouTube that showcase all of their adventures and experiences? These videos are often so well made and show off some of the most interesting parts of each country and it’s usually enough to entice you to visit a country based on their content alone. We are planning our next USA adventure exactly this way! There are also vloggers that talk about not just travelling, but also certain things within each country. For example, some people focus on the culinary experiences they have, while others are focused on volunteering and sharing the stories of a countries people. Jump on over and be wildly inspired!

2. Start Following Bloggers

If YouTube isn’t quite your thing, then how about bloggers (oh hey there 😉 )? Reading about travel is a great way to get more detail and find out the extra activities available in a area that a vlogger may not have mentioned in their video. Travel blog imagery is often awe-inspiring (and sometimes mouth-watering!) and can showcase some of the most interesting and strange things about each country. Much like YouTube, there are many bloggers that specialize in different aspects of a country. For example, some people tend to focus on food while others might talk about music. Me, I love angels of architecture and capturing the quirks and atmosphere of the landscapes I'm exploring....And you'll be seeing more of my travel blogs and vlogs very soon! #subscribetostaytuned 😉

3. Follow Your Passions

Travelling itself might not be your passion, but what about music, food or even video games? There are plenty of people that look up concert tickets, purchase them even if they’re in other countries and use that as an excuse to travel. People that love video games, for example, regularly make the trip to popular events such as E3 and Gamescom where people all over the world celebrate new video game releases that regularly see hundreds and thousands of people attending. What's a passion of yours and where would the best place to experience that passion in real life, full colour, full fun? Now go book it in!

4. Embrace Culture

Whether it’s quirky Japanese culture, Italian fashion trends or South American history that piques your interest, travelling to embrace new cultures and tradition is a fantastic way to find inspiration to travel. It’s always nice to get up-close and personal with things you feel passionate about, and travelling is one of the best ways to experience something you’ve read or seen even seen in the movies. Does a Hobbiton adventure excite your inner Frodo? How about a little Breakfast at Tiffany's? Or you can steal my latest travel inspo and make the pilgrimage to Culloden Moor and the Scottish Highlands, Outlander style. There is so much more culture to be seen, touched, tasted and felt in the real life version of your favourite stories. Go out and live it to come home with your own story to remember forever.

5. Start with Something Affordable

Holidays don’t always need to be expensive journeys around the world. A simple road trip or a visit to a nearby town can also be an exciting and fun way to spend your time and it’s comparative affordability make it good reason for starting simple.

“Why do you go away? So that you can come back. So that you can see the place you came from with new eyes and extra colors. And the people there see you differently, too. Coming back to where you started is not the same as never leaving.”
― Terry Pratchett, A Hat Full of Sky
