Shade, Shelter and Seating

As well as making the garden look nice, you will need to think of more practical additions for the garden too if you’re hosting guests. Do you have enough seating? If you’re only ever a few seats short, invest in some foldaway chairs and keep these in the shed. If you have a small seating areas and a lot of guests then it could be worth buying a larger outdoor dining set. It might cost a bit, but you can get great use out of it every year. You will need a good barbeque to be able to actually cook the food, and could even look at 4WD Supa Centre portable gazebos for sale to go over the top of it. That way you shelter your barbeque if you get any drizzly rain, otherwise it will shelter the cook from the very strong Aussie sun!

Fantastic Food and Drink

One of the most important parts of a barbeque is of course the food. Grilled meat and seafood is always great, but think of other additions too. Mushrooms, peppers, onions and corn on the cob all make excellent side dishes or alternatives for vegetarians/ vegans. Check what’s in season, and if you have an allotment or grow your own crops then put these to use too. Vegetables and herbs can be used up before canning or freezing the remainder to be used later in the year.

Summer is the perfect time to get everyone together (anyone else finds everyone hibernates over winter?!). When it’s sunny outside and the evenings are warm and stretch on forever, it’s a great opportunity to spend time with loved ones and keep bonds close. And what better way to do so than over some delicious food and drink? Everyone loves a good barbeque, and it’s the best way to enjoy the sunshine and really make the most of the last days and evenings of summer weather. Here’s how you can make it great....

Glam Up The Garden

As we come towards the end of the summer, a little tidying up of the garden may be needed. It's a good time to dead-head all of your blooms that have finished flowering, and prune back any trees and bushes that have grown out of control. Mow the grass and paint fences if they’re in need of doing and have been faded by the sun. That way they’ll be ready for next year, and now is the ideal time to do it while the weather is still good. (OK, the start of spring would have been the perfect time so you could enjoy it all summer, but better late than never, right?!) Tidy up things like bikes, shoes, tools and kids toys from the outside of your home. String up some solar or LED fairy lights and add some fresh flowers to your pots. Check out garden centres at this time of year, you can often get really cheap deals on plants that are about to finish flowering. The perfect place to make a saving if you’re planning on having your event in the next couple of weeks!
